FAQ's

What kinds of counseling do you offer?

We see a wide variety of people for individual (children, adolescents, adults), couples, and family counseling. See more detailed explanation on the Services Provided page.

How do I make an appointment with a counselor?

Please visit the About Us page. Select a counselor based on specialty, availability and fit. Call our general number 630-325-4770 and leave a message for your counselor-of-choice for a brief conversation about working together. We regret that we are unable to accommodate walk-in appointments and cannot guarantee same-day appointments.

I’ve never gone to counseling before. What can I expect?

For counseling to be fulfilling and successful, you and your counselor must establish a rapport and trust. It may take a few sessions for your counselor to get to know you before moving into actual therapy.
In the early stages, you can expect your counselor to ask many questions. Your counselor will work with you to define what you want help with, discuss your goals for counseling and to develop a strategy (next steps) to accomplish your goals.
Counseling is dynamic and interactive. Please feel free to ask questions to help you connect with your counselor as you progress through the counseling experience together.

Where are you located?

244 E. Ogden Ave., Suite 11B, Hinsdale, IL 60521(a garden suite on the back side of the building) and 240 E. Ogden Ave., Suites 105 and 106, Hinsdale IL 60521 (courtyard suites). All of our offices are located in the Koshgarian Rug Cleaners Building, a two-story grey building at the corner of Ogden Ave. and Elm St. (one block east of York Rd.) in Hinsdale.

Do you have sessions in the evenings or on weekends?

Some of our therapists are available for evening and weekend appointments. See the About Us page to find out who is available when you are!

How many sessions do I need?

Because each case is different, you and your therapist will determine your needs and goals, and discuss a treatment plan with you.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session?

You must notify your counselor 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time to cancel or reschedule. Otherwise, you will be responsible for 50% of the full fee. Please see our cancellation policy in the Contract for Services.

What if I am running late to my session?

Please contact your counselor directly at the phone number they provided to you when you scheduled your appointment. Leaving a message on our general reception line does not ensure that your counselor will be notified.

Do you have a psychiatrist at Lighthouse Counseling Services?

We have a network of psychiatric referrals and we will work with your psychiatrist to coordinate care. It is our policy to recommend current, active clients only to psychiatrists, and not to make referrals to the general public.

What are your fees?

Our fees are $140 for a 55-minute session. We have a complete schedule of fees on our Fees & Payments Page. If you feel you might qualify for a reduced rate based on financial need, you can find our Fee Reduction Application on our Helpful Forms page.

Do you take any health insurance?

We are in-network providers for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and MultiPlan. For all other insurance carriers, we are “out-of-network” providers, but we will bill on your behalf in most cases. Your decision to bill through insurance is important. Please see our Insurance Declaration Form for information about insurance billing.

Do you accept credit cards?

We accept all major credit cards. Payment is due at each session for “Private Pay” clients, and for “Insurance Clients,” we will keep your card on file to charge copays and deductible payments. We also accept cash and checks made payable to “Lighthouse Counseling Services.”
